Two Engrossing Computer "Games" Making Our World a Better Place.
To The MoonThis "game" (interactive story) shares the quirks associated with a mental uniqueness. It inspired me to change careers. I cannot adequately say how much a gorgeously illustrated, shocking and moving mystery this is. It costs around $12 US, takes 4-5 hrs, and will leave as deep an impact on your soul as the moon on your crazies.

Free RiceThis is a free learning tool that allows users to give rice to needy individuals across the globe. The website was created as a project to both offer the world's citizens free education as well as to help alleviate hunger in the poorest regions on Earth by UNICEF's World Food Program. Soliciting companies display ads at the bottom of the page, and fund the rice donations of correct answers.
I discovered this site while teaching in Korea. The kids found it fun. I noticed improvements in their ability AND esteem as they used it. |
The Inevitable: Nudity and Death remains.
"I would just like to say a few words about "nudity" in the world today. And I for one am just appalled by it. Why, did you know that underneath their clothing the entire population of the world is walking around completely naked? Is that disgusting? And it's not just people, although goodness knows that's bad enough. Animals too, ... birds wear nothing! Nothing at all. Abso... oh m... could someone, hand me a robe? ... Mmmhmm"

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but some day not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And, most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs, 2005 Stanford Commencement Address |
